Citizenship and Service

Community Cares volunteers help The Salvation Army package and distribute over 2,000 gifts to area nursing home and adult foster care residents each year.  Volunteer groups include:

Calhoun Christian School Students

Salvation Army Character Building groups-Sunbeams, Adventure Corps, Rangers and Girl Guards.

Salvation Army Women’s and Men’s ministry groups

Community Care Ministries is a vision-oriented ministry unique to our community.  CCM is carin for the elderly and most vulnerable in our corps and community by reaching out, supporting and encouraging them in very practical and meaningful ways. 

Guidance, training and opportunity for practical help to others is available through the Community Care Ministries curriculum.

Personal activities could include: 

Sending cards to nursing home residents, shut-ins, those recently      hospitalized

Transporting a person or persons to the doctor or grocery store

Baking for seniors, new neighbors, etc.

Telephone reassurance

Plus many other opportunities

Team Activities could include:

Making minor home repairs

Visiting VA medical centers

Visiting nursing homes

Doing Lawn care

Gardening

Plus many other opportunities
